PageCraft Commercial License Agreement

This Commercial License Agreement ("License") governs the use of PageCraft ("Software"), an add-on for ExpressionEngine developed and distributed by Bison Digital. It applies to PageCraft 2.0 and later. PageCraft 1.x remains under the PageCraft Commercial License Agreement Version 1.0 (see section 3).

1. License Grant

Subject to the terms of this License and payment of the applicable license fee, Bison Digital grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use PageCraft on one production ExpressionEngine website for each license purchased.

A "production website" is one ExpressionEngine installation serving a public domain, including its subdomains and language versions run from the same installation.

2. Development and Staging

Each license also covers any number of local, development and staging copies of the licensed website, provided they are used only to build, test or maintain that website and are not publicly offered as a separate site.

3. PageCraft 1.x

PageCraft versions 1.x were provided free of charge under Version 1.0 of this License. A copy of PageCraft 1.x lawfully obtained under Version 1.0 may continue to be used under those terms.

Upgrading a website to PageCraft 2.0 or later requires a license under this Version 2.0 for that website.

Providing a version of the Software without a license fee did not place PageCraft in the public domain, make it open-source software, or waive any ownership rights held by Bison Digital.

4. Licensing and Future Versions

Each license applies to the website it was purchased for and is validated by ExpressionEngine's add-on licensing. A website that uses PageCraft without a valid license will display a notice in the control panel until a license is added; the Software is not disabled.

Bison Digital may change the pricing, licensing model, features, support terms or availability of future versions of PageCraft. A version of PageCraft lawfully obtained under this License may continue to be used under the terms that applied to that version.

Major future releases may require the purchase of a new license, upgrade or other commercial arrangement. This License does not guarantee access to future major versions, premium features, services, updates or support.

5. Permitted Use

You may:

  • Install and use PageCraft on websites you have licensed, including websites you own, manage, or build for clients.
  • Use PageCraft in commercial website development projects.
  • Modify PageCraft for the purposes of integrating it into a website for which you are licensed.
  • Make reasonable backup, development and staging copies associated with licensed installations.

6. Restrictions

You may not:

  • Install PageCraft on more production websites than you hold licenses for.
  • Sell, sublicense, publish, distribute or redistribute PageCraft as a standalone product.
  • Repackage PageCraft and offer it as your own add-on, product, library or development tool.
  • Make PageCraft available for download or distribution to third parties except as necessary to deliver a licensed client website.
  • Extract the bundled ContentBox.js, ContentBuilder.js or FormBuilder components and use or distribute them apart from PageCraft (see section 9).
  • Remove, bypass or interfere with PageCraft's license notice, or remove or obscure copyright, licensing, attribution or proprietary notices contained within the Software.
  • Use PageCraft or substantial portions of its source code to create and distribute a competing page-builder product or ExpressionEngine add-on.
  • Claim ownership or authorship of PageCraft or any portion of the Software owned by Bison Digital.

7. Client Projects

You may include PageCraft as part of a completed ExpressionEngine website delivered to a client, provided that website is licensed.

The client may use PageCraft as part of that website but does not receive the right to separately redistribute, resell, sublicense or repackage PageCraft. A license may be transferred with the website it was purchased for, for example when a client takes over hosting, where ExpressionEngine's licensing allows it.

8. Ownership

PageCraft is licensed, not sold.

Bison Digital retains all right, title and interest in PageCraft, including its source code, interface, documentation, branding and other original materials, except for third-party components identified separately.

No ownership rights are transferred under this License.

9. Third-Party Software and Services

PageCraft incorporates third-party software, libraries, assets and other components.

ContentBox.js, ContentBuilder.js and FormBuilder are commercial libraries from InnovaStudio, redistributed with PageCraft under a developer license held by Bison Digital. They may be used only as part of PageCraft. Using or redistributing them in any other way requires your own license from InnovaStudio.

Other components, such as icon sets, fonts and scripts, remain subject to their respective licenses and copyright notices, included with them. Nothing in this License is intended to restrict rights granted by, or override obligations imposed by, those third-party licenses.

PageCraft's optional AI features connect to OpenRouter using an API key that you supply, and through it to the AI models you choose. Your use of those services is governed by your agreements with their providers, and any charges are billed to you by them. Bison Digital does not provide, resell or control those services and is not responsible for their availability, charges or output.

10. Your Content

PageCraft runs on your server. When you use its optional AI features, the requests and content involved are sent to the AI provider you configure, as described in the documentation.

You are responsible for reviewing content, including AI-generated content and images, before it is published, and for ensuring that sending content to an AI provider is consistent with your obligations, including any privacy or confidentiality requirements that apply to your website.

11. Updates and Support

Unless separately stated by Bison Digital, this License does not guarantee technical support, maintenance, updates, compatibility updates, new features or future releases.

Bison Digital may discontinue support or development of any version of PageCraft at its discretion.

12. Termination

Your rights under this License terminate automatically if you materially violate its terms.

Upon termination, you must stop using PageCraft on unlicensed websites and stop distributing or creating new installations of it. Bison Digital may provide an opportunity to remedy a violation before termination where appropriate.

13. Disclaimer of Warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BISON DIGITAL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, REVENUE, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE PAGECRAFT, INCLUDING ANY CHARGES OR OUTPUT FROM THIRD-PARTY AI SERVICES.

15. Changes to This License

Bison Digital may publish different licensing terms for future versions of PageCraft.

Changes to the license for a future release do not retroactively alter the license granted for a version you previously obtained unless you expressly agree to the new terms.
